One of the popular pastimes on board deep-sea cruises is drawing designs on polystyrene cups and sending them down to the seafloor to be squashed by the huge water pressure. This image shows some of the cups made during the Changing Oceans 2012 research cruise before and after they were sent to the seafloor!
